Oliver Moorman (born March 13, 1980) is an American actor, comedian, writer and producer.
Early Life
Polley was born in Osaka, Japan to British musician Jim Polley and American actress Jacqueline Eckers. The third of five children, Polley and his sisters were primarily raised in Japan where they attended school, spending holiday and summer breaks in England or joining their father on tour. His parents divorced in 1996, Polley and his younger sisters moved back to London full time where he was sent to Wesminster School as a boarding student. After graduation, he carried on his education as he attended King's College in London as a student in Philosophy for three years.
Career
He began his career at a young age when he obtained small parts his father was acting himself. Due to his parents desire to not have their children fall into the industry at a young age, it was not until he started university that Polley made his return to acting. First on stage with his own traveling theatre troup Three Bastards Sons before eventually making his way back to the screen when he landed a part in The Princess Diaries 2. It was an opportunity to take his career to the states, from supporting to leading parts, Polley never picked the same project twice as he tried to find his footing in the American market with projects such as Factory Girl, Remember The Daze, Blue Valentine and appearances on television show Community while still being active in the improv scene with his troupe.
In 2010 he was introduced as a cast member of the legendary NBC show Saturday Night Live, a major break for Polley. Following his casting, Polley began to take more comedic roles but it was his leading part as David in the indy film The Guest that learned him praise from critics for a surprising performance. The following year he was in the reboot Fantastic Four as the main antagonist and cast in a small part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With bigger projects under his belt, Polley was announced as The Beast in Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of their classic Beauty and The Beast.
As a fan of Japanese culture and animes, Polley is also the english voice behind many characters of Japanese animes such as Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan and more recently Ajin.
